Here we are, a week into this little adventure.
How are you feeling?
Are you finding connection?
Are you feeling inspired to get more curious?
Your sketchbook is a very special place. It is not only your own personal and portable gallery and secret garden, it is a bridge between your world and that of your wild subjects. Today, we explore how to not just observe, but to truly embody the beings we honour through our art.
🌿 Today's Reflection: When we truly connect with our subjects, something remarkable happens. We begin to feel the weight of a bird's wings in our own shoulders, the alertness of a deer in our own spine, the groundedness of a tree in our own feet. This embodied understanding brings a new depth to our art.
You are not separate from the wild beings you sketch - you too are a creature of this Earth, with ancient wisdom in your bones. When you allow yourself to feel this connection, your marks become more than just lines on paper; they become a dance of recognition between kin.
🖋️ Gentle Invitation: Before you begin sketching today:
Roll your shoulders, imagining wings unfurling
Feel your connection to the ground beneath you
Move like your subject might move
Breathe at their pace
Let this embodied understanding guide your hand
Remember: Your body holds her own wild wisdom - let her inform your art.
