Dear gorgeous, human artists,
I think you know by now that I am all about encouraging everyone to connect to their creativity, and to connect to the wild world. I am always looking for ways to do that with genuine open-heartedness, because I really believe that now, more than ever, we need intentional compassionate creativity. We need your art - with all sincerity!
I have the beautiful Hedgerow for wild hearted women, The Wild Sketchbook that runs twice a year for all creative humans, and a bunch of comprehensive, curious, connective courses, and LOADS of free content both here and on YouTube, but I know these aren’t right for everyone all the time.
It is the Goldilocks thing, right? Some of need a little more, some of us only want a little, and maybe, what I am offering here now through Wild Wanderings is the one that feels just right for you.
You know how I'm always talking about creativity that fits your real life? About honouring your capacity and creating sustainably? Well, I realized I wanted to offer something new that continues to embody that philosophy.
Introducing Wild Wanderings - a new way to explore my wildlife art teaching library at your own pace, in your own time.
Here's how it works: For $10 a month, you get access to carefully curated tutorials from across all my courses. And because I want you to feel inspired but working at your own pace, you keep access to each tutorial for three full months.
Why three months? Because real learning isn't about consuming content quickly. It's about having time to:
Try the techniques when you have good energy
Return when you want to practice again
Approach the lesson differently as your skills grow
Actually absorb and integrate what you're learning
Be able to create in the margins of time that your full-on life allows
At any given time, you'll have access to three different tutorials - the current month's lesson plus the previous two months. Think of it as wandering through different rooms in my teaching library, with no pressure to rush through.
This isn't about getting more content faster.
That is completely antithetical to my whole philosophy. I want you moving at the speed of you.
You already have access to more than 20 free tutorials here, plus everything I share on YouTube. Wild Wanderings is about getting deeper access to my complete teaching approach - sampling lessons from courses like The Wild Sketchbook, Hedgerow content, Drawn to Wild, See the Wild, and other programs I've created over the years.
I pop into your inbox once a month with a little reminder that there is something new to try. All real time, all comprehensive, all beautifully compassionate and full of connection between your wild heart and the wild world.
What Wild Wanderings includes:
Monthly tutorial access from across my course library
Three months to explore and practice each lesson
Ability to comment and ask questions on tutorial posts
Curated learning experiences at your own pace
What Wild Wanderings doesn't include:
Daily community chat or ongoing discussion threads
Live sessions or real-time interaction with me
Peer-to-peer networking and support
Why no community? Because, to be honest, I am only one person.
As much as I would like to be here for everyone all day, I need to prioritise my own health and capacity too.
But if community is what you are after, oh, I have the most wonderful space for you!
For vibrant daily community, ongoing support, and deeper artist connections, that's what Hedgerow is designed for. Wild Wanderings keeps things focused purely on the learning experience.
Why I'm creating this:
I kept hearing from artists who were curious about my longer courses but wanted to experience my teaching style first. Others mentioned wanting ongoing creative input but feeling overwhelmed by too much content at once, and not really wanting a community. Wild Wanderings solves both of those needs.
It's also completely aligned with how I believe creativity should work - gently, sustainably, with respect for your real life and actual capacity.
If you're thinking "Do I need this?"
Wild Wanderings is perfect if you:
Want to sample my teaching across different topics
Prefer learning at your own pace without course pressure
Like having ongoing creative input but not overwhelm
Want to support The Sketchbook Sanctuary (and me!) while getting extra value
Are curious about my longer programs but want to "try before you buy"
It's probably not right if you:
Are happy with the free content and don't want additional tutorials
Prefer to invest in complete courses rather than sampling
Are already enrolled in multiple courses and feeling content-overwhelmed
This first Wild Wandering
This month, we're exploring a Fallow Deer stag in a single coloured pencil sketch from my course Drawn to Wild - a lesson that beautifully demonstrates finding shapes and turning those into form. There is a bonus tutorial this month so that you have two wee presents to delight! The second tutorial is full coloured pencil Red-knobbed Hornbill - done with a cheap set of pencils from the supermarket! The magic is never in the supplies dear one, it is in you :) This one is from withing The Wild Sketchbook, my comprehensive 7 week course.
You can subscribe for $10 a month, or get two months free and subscribe to a year (twelve tutorials!) for $100. If Wild Wanderings feels right for you, you'll keep access to each tutorial for three months, when one drops off, and a new one appears 🥳
I'm genuinely excited about this gentler way of sharing my teaching. It feels like the perfect bridge between our free gathering here and my wonderful Hedgerow community and intensive courses - a space for unhurried exploration and discovery.
Ready to start wandering?
As always, whether you join or not, you're valued here. The free Sketchbook Sanctuary will continue exactly as it always has, with weekly insights, encouragement, and the occasional free tutorial.
Here's to creative wandering,
Natalie
